It’s not every day a country gets a new national mobile service provider. However, today Wind Mobile, a company born out of the overwhelming consensus that the Canadian wireless market needed more competition, is open for business.
There will continue to be tonnes of press about the new company and their approach to providing wireless services, but its their communication strategy that has us enamored with WIND.
As an example here’s an excerpt from their data plan offering regarding their ‘Fair Usage Policy’:
To support unlimited data usage for everyone on our network, we have a Fair Usage Policy. If you exceed 5GB of data usage within any given month, we won’t cap your usage but we may slow your speed so that all Customers can better share the network and enjoy quality access to the Internet.
Well that sounds fair doesn’t it? However, it’s not too different from the policies of Canada’s other major carriers. This subtle change in tone is a microcosm of how WIND plans to differentiate themselves in the marketplace.
What are your thoughts about WIND’s approach to mobile?
